Seattle--Stewart arrived----
---and we stayed put!!--exploring the many attractions downtown Seattle had to offer. Went from exploring 'Undergroung Seattle' to the top of the Space Needle, from the Pike Place Market and the waterfront, to the Science Center and an IMAX experience 'Under the Sea'--even attended an International [35th year] Folk festival for 2 days at the Seattle Center complex [where the Space Needle and Science Center, etc. are]--quite a full 6 days!!
Arrival at Seatac, found his baggage [nothing lost] checked him into the room and drove into downtown [16 miles] to get our tickets for the Underground Seattle tour--last tour of the afternoon,too--even had time for a great barbeque lunch--all in our/his first afternoon!! Yes, a full day. We both slept well that night--actually every night, for we started our days early and were in bed by 9 PM. [I had suggested he keep his watch on Central time, so he'd feel he was sleeping in and staying up late--'teen style'--seems to be working.]
Aside from the showery weather, which kept the heat down and even discouraged some of the crowds--it was Memorial Day weekend, after all--we had a fun-filled time. The second and 3rd days, we spent at the Seattle Center, where the Folk festival was being held. Stewart had a special treat--'Game On'--at the Science Center. The 2nd day we attended the Festival, he played games and explored the exhibits [many hands-on type] on his own at the Science Center, while I enjoyed some wonderful and unusual folk dances, then we met for the IMAX movie and to see how each other was doing. Both agreed, the day was a success--each got tired in our own way.
Then the Pike Place Market--what huge salmon and shrimp!-- and a seafood lunch on the waterfront. A visit to the Odyssey Maritime Museum, with more hands-on stuff, and our final morning, a visit to the Flight Museum.
Drove through pouring rain [fortunately only 150 miles, just seemed longer] to our Mt Ste Helens destination. We'll explore that site today. Enjoy our trip pics!!
